Elle voltige en des rêves enfiévrés.
Un vent morose geint dans le pré
Et la lune épie à travers les arbres.

Bientôt autour les étoiles blêmissent
Et recrue de doléances
Ses joues de cire blêmissent.
La pourriture s'exhale de la terre.

Les roseaux tristes bruissent dans la mare
Et elle gèle recroquevillée sur elle-même.
Au loin un coq chante. Au-dessus de la mare,
Dur et gris, le matin frissonne.
