Pluck this little flower and take it,...

Language: English after the Bangla (Bengali)

Pluck this little flower and take it, delay not!
I fear lest it droop
and drop into the dust.
[I may not find]1 a place in thy garland,
but honour it
with a touch of pain from thy hand and pluck it.
I fear lest the day end
before I am [aware]2,
and the time of offering go by.
Though its colour be not deep
and its smell be faint,
use this flower in thy service
and pluck it while there is time.

Cogli, prendi questo fiorellino

Language: Italian (Italiano) after the English

Cogli, prendi questo fiorellino,
affrettati, perché non abbia ad appassir
e cader nella polvere.
Non può trovar posto nella tua ghirlanda,
pure onoralo con la carezza pietosa
della tua mano, e coglilo.
Che il giorno non abbia a finire
e l'ora della offerta non passi
senza che me ne accorga.
Sebbene non abbia un color cupo
e il suo profumo sia tenue,
pure serviti di questo fiore,
e coglilo finché ne è tempo.
