Warst du so sehr der Eine, hast das Dumpfe getan, ach, es zieht schon die reine stille gelöschte Bahn, ach, schon die Stunde, jene leichte im Spindellicht, die von Rocken und Lehne singend die Parze flicht. Warst du der große Verlasser, Tränen hingen dir an, und Tränen sind hartes Wasser, das über Steine rann, es ist alles vollendet, Tränen und Zürnen nicht, alles wogengeblendet dein in Rosen und Licht. Süße Stunde. O Altern! Schon das Wappen verschenkt: Stier und Fackelhaltern und die Fackel gesenkt, nun von Stränden, von Liden, einem Orangenmeer tief in Schwärmen Sphingiden führen die Schatten her. Gabst dir alles alleine, gib dir das letzte Glück, nimm die Olivenhaine dir die Säulen zurück, ach, schon lösen sich Glieder und in dein letztes Gesicht steigen Boten hernieder ganz in Rosen und Licht.
