Jo em sento com engendrat de nou.
On són ara l'aflicció i el destret?
De tot allò que, encara ahir em volia afeblir,
me'n empegueeixo ara a la llum de l'aurora.

En el món, amb el seu neguit i joia,
vull jo, un pelegrí, entrar-hi alegrement,
com si fos un pont cap a Tu,
Senyor, sobre el corrent del temps.

I la meva cançó afalagadora espera guanyar-se
el favor del món
per el vil salari de la vanitat:
trenco les meves cordes i, tremolant,
restaré en silenci, davant Teu, per tota l'eternitat.
