Раным-ранёхонько в дверь осторожно
Смерть сердобольная стук!
Вздрогнула мать, оглянулась тревожно...

Бледное утро уж смотрит в окошко...
Плача, тоскуя, любля,
Ты утомилась, вздремни-ка немножко,
Я посижу за тебя.
Угомонить ты дитя не сумела.

La mort au cœur tendre frappe !
Surprise, la mère regarde avec inquiétude...
"N'aie pas peur, ma chère !
Le matin pâle apparaît à la fenêtre...
En pleurant, en t'inquiétant, en aimant,
Tu t'es fatiguée, fais un petit somme,
Je vais m'asseoir à ta place.
Tu n'as pas réussi à calmer l'enfant.
Je vais chanter plus doucement que toi."
"Chut ! mon enfant s'agite et remue.
Et tourmente mon âme."
