Hèt. Le seigneur a décidé de détruire le mur
de la fille de Sion ; il a tendu son cordeau, et
n'a pas détourné sa main de la ruine ; et il a démoli
le rempart, et le mur a été détruit aussi.

Tèt. Ses portes sont enfoncées dans la terre,
il a brisé et broyé leurs barres ; son roi
et ses princes loin des nations ; il n'y a plus de loi, et
ses prophètes ne reçoivent pas de vision du Seigneur.

Yod. Ils sont assis sur la terre et ils se taisent, les vieillards
de la fille de Sion ; ils ont recouvert de cendres leurs têtes,
ils sont revêtus de cilice ; elles baissent vers la terre
leurs têtes, les vierges de Jérusalem.

Kaph. mes yeux me font défaut à cause de larmes,
mes entrailles sont troublées ; il est répandu en
terre, mon cœur, devant la ruine de la fille
de mon peuple, alors qu'est abandonné le tout petit
à la mamelle dans les places de la ville.
