Montant et descendant les collines :

Alors comme un oiseau dans le feuillage
Chante et bouge,
Ou comme le grappe dorée
Ressent l'esprit du bonheur
Dans le premier soleil du matin :

Ainsi je sens aussi de mon vieux et cher
Adam la fièvre de l'automne et du printemps,
Chère à Dieu,
Jamais gâchée,
Les premiers délices du paradis.

Tu n'es pas aussi mauvais, ô vieil
Adam, que les maîtres sans indulgence le disent ;
Tu aimes et tu loues toujours,
Tu chantes et tu célèbres toujours,
