Wohin ich geh' und schaue

Language: German (Deutsch)

Wohin ich geh' und schaue,
In Feld und Wald und Tal,
[Vom Berg hinab in die Aue;
Viel schöne, hohe Fraue]1,
Grüß ich dich tausendmal.

In meinem Garten find' ich
Viel [Blumen]2, schön und fein,
Viel Kränze wohl draus wind' ich
Und tausend Gedanken bind' ich
Und Grüße mit darein.

[Ihr darf ich keinen reichen,
Sie ist zu hoch und schön,
Die müssen alle verbleichen,
Die Liebe nur ohnegleichen]3
Bleibt ewig im Herzen stehn.

Ich schein' wohl froher Dinge
Und schaffe auf und ab,
Und, ob das Herz zerspringe,
Ich grabe fort und singe,
Und grab' mir bald mein Grab.

De tuinman

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Wat ik maar wil aanschouwen,
In veld en bos en dal,
[Op hellingen, in landouwen;
O mooie, eed'le vrouwe]1,
Ik groet je duizend maal.

In deze tuin hier vind ik
Veel bloemen, mooi en fijn,
Veel kransen daarvan wind ik
En duizend gedachten bind ik
Tot groet- en bloemfestijn.

[Haar mag ik er geen reiken,
Zij is te hoog en mooi;
Hun tijd zal hier gauw verstrijken]2;
Aan liefde zonder gelijke
Blijft eeuwig mijn hart ten prooi.

Ik houd wel van de dingen
En beul mij lekker af,
En mocht mijn hart gaan wringen,
Ik spit en blijf maar zingen
En graaf mij gauw mijn graf.
