Die Schwermut
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG FRE ITA
Gewaltig bist du dunkler Mund
Im Innern, aus Herbstgewölk
Geformte Gestalt,
Goldner Abendstille;
Ein grünlich dämmernder Bergstrom
In zerbrochner Föhren
Schattenbezirk;
Ein Dorf,
Das fromm in braunen Bildern abstirbt.
Da springen die schwarzen Pferde
Auf nebliger Weide.
Ihr Soldaten!
Vom Hügel, wo sterbend die Sonne rollt
Stürzt das lachende Blut
Unter Eichen
Sprachlos! O grollende Schwermut
Des Heers; ein strahlender Helm
Sank klirrend von purpurner Stirne.
Herbstesnacht so kühle kommt
Erglänzt mit Sternen
Über zerbrochenem Männergebein
Die stille Mönchin.

Malinconia
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Sei tu potente, oscura bocca,
al tuo interno, da nubi d'autunno
plasmate immagini,
di aurea quiete serale;
Un torrente si fa verde cupo
fra pini schiantati
nell'ombra;
Un villaggio,
piamente si spegne in immagini brune.
Ecco un irrompere di neri cavalli
sul prato nebbioso.
Soldati!
Dal colle, dove rotola il sole morente
sprizza gioioso il sangue -
Sotto le querce
Mute! Oh, fragorosa malinconia
delle armate; un elmo lucente
cadde risuonando da una fronte insanguinata.
Fresca notte autunnale cala,
risplendente di stelle,
sopra ossa spezzate di uomini,
monaca silenziosa.
