Der um Himmelswohner strahlt.

O sie fühlt, im leisen, linden Wehen,
[Froh des Hocherhabnen]2 Gegenwart,
Sieht im Geiste schon die Palmenhöhen,
Wo der Lichtkranz ihrer harrt!

So von Andacht, so von Gottvertrauen
Ihre engelreine Brust geschwellt,
Betend diese Heilige zu schauen,

La femme à la prière

Laura prie ! Les harpes des anges font résonner
La paix de Dieu dans son cœur souffrant,
Et, comme les senteurs des offrandes d'Abel, s'élèvent
Ses soupirs vers le ciel.

Comme elle s'agenouille, plongée dans sa méditation,
Belle comme Raphaël peignait l'innocence ;
Baignée déjà dans l'éclat de la transfiguration,
Qui rayonne de ceux qui demeurent dans le ciel.

Elle ressent dans la brise légère et douce,
Avec joie la présence des êtres d'en haut,
Elle regarde dans son esprit à travers la cime des palmiers
Où sa couronne de lumière attend déjà !

Ainsi par sa méditation, ainsi par sa foi en Dieu,
Son cœur d'ange pur se remplit,
Voir cette sainte femme prier,
Est comme voir un autre monde.
