You can help us modernize! The present website has been online for a very long time and we want to bring it up to date. As of April 20, we are $4,600 away from our goal of $15,000 to fund the project. The fully redesigned site will be better for mobile, easier to read and navigate, and ready for the next decade. Please give today and join dozens of other supporters in making this important renovation possible!

Ach!

Language: Dutch (Nederlands)

'k Wist een struikske blommen staan,
zesse stonden in knopen;
'k had ze geren zien open gaan,
en... ze gingen open.

'k Wist een bloeiend struikske staan,
't droeg zes blinkende blommen;
'k ging ze 's morgens bezoeken zaan,
'k ging er 's avonds weeromme.

'Moeder, kijk, mijn blomkens kleen,
moeder, zie hoe ze lonken!'
Zei de moeder: 'Geeft mij een!'
'k Heb heur eentje geschonken.

'k Wist eene moeder, zij had nen keer
ook zes bloeiende knopen,
staande te zamen, jong en teer,
en nog nauwelijks open.

God, in Zijne aanbidlijkheid,
kwam heur eentje te vragen:
en zij gaf het Hem, weende en zeid':
'Ach!' - 'k en hoorde geen klagen.
