Victimae paschali laudes
Language: Latin
Available translation(s): DUT ENG
Victimae paschali laudes
Immolent Christiani.
Agnus redemit oves:
Christus innocens patri
Reconciliavit peccatores.
Mors et vita duello
Conflixere mirando,
Dux vite mortuus
Regnat vivus.
Dic nobis Maria,
Quid vidisti in via?
Sepulcrum Christi viventis
Et gloriam vidi resurgentis,
Angelicos testes,
Sudarium et vestes.
Surrexit Christus spes mea,
Precedet suos in Galilaeam.
[Credendum est magis soli Mariae veraci
quam Judaeorum turbae fallaci.]1
Scimus Christum surrexisse ex mortuis vere:
tu nobis [Christe]2 rex, miserere. Alleluia.

Praises to the Easter victim
Language: English  after the Latin
May Christians offer
Praises to the Easter victim.
The Lamb has redeemed the sheep;
Christ the innocent
Has reconciled sinners to His father.
Death and life
Contended in a wondrous duel,
The leader of life, though killed,
Reigns alive.
Tell us, Mary,
What did you see on your way?
I saw the tomb of the living Christ
And the glory of his rising,
I saw the angel witnesses,
His shroud and clothes.
Christ, my hope, has risen
He will precede his followers to Galilee.
We trust more in the truthful Mary alone,
rather than the lying crowd of Jews.
We know that Christ has truly risen from the dead;
Christ our king, have mercy on us. Alleluia.
