Tilbedende tier den hele Jord,
Kun Blomsterne nikke i Vinden,
De kysse hinanden paa Kinden.

I Bugten hist, hvor Sivene gro,
Der gynge i Baaden de Elskende to;
I Havet, i Øjet og højt i det Blaa,
Alle tre Steder jo Himle staa,
Men allerherligst blandt disse
Er Øjets Himmel tilvisse.

Den Himmel ejer det reneste Blaa,
Og Tankerne der som Stjerner staa;
Der skuer man klart i Aandernes Land,
Man føler sig Barn, og dog en Mand,
hver Tanke mod Himlen sig taber,
Og Hjertet tror paa sin Skaber.

Vois, le soleil jette les flammes de son amour !
Il pose sa tête sur le sein de la vague,
Mais peut-on décrire cela juste avec des mots !
La terre entière, en adoration, se tait,
Seules les fleurs hochent la tête dans le vent,
Et s'embrassent sur la joue.

Là-bas dans la baie où poussent les joncs,
Deux amoureux se font balancer dans un bateau ;
Dans la mer, dans les yeux et haut dans l'azur,
En ces trois endroits il y a le ciel,
Mais plus magnifiques parmi ceux-ci,
Il y a pour sûr, le ciel du regard.

Ce ciel possède le bleu le plus pur,
Et, comme des étoiles, les pensées y résident ;
On y voit clair dans le monde des esprits,
On s'y sent enfant et pourtant homme,
Chaque pensée se perd vers le ciel,
Et le cœur croit en son créateur.
