Asien, dorthin möchte ich segeln auf dem Schoner, der sich heute Abend im Hafen wiegt, geheimnisvoll und einsam, und der dann seine violetten Segel ausspannt wie ein riesiger Vogel der Nacht am goldenen Himmel. Ich möchte zu den Blumeninseln segeln und lauschen dem Gesang des brünstigen Meeres mit seinem uralten, verzaubernden Wogen. Ich möchte Damaskus sehen und Persiens Städte mit den ätherischen Minaretten. Ich möchte schöne Turbane sehen aus Seide auf schwarzen Gesichtern mit strahlenden Zähnen; ich möchte Augen schauen, dunkel vor Liebe, und Pupillen, die vor Freude funkeln, und Haut, die schimmert wie Orangen; samtene Gewänder möchte ich sehen und Kaftane mit langen Fransen.
