Ach Schildknecht, lieber Schildknecht mein, was redst von meiner Frauen, ja Frauen, und fürchst nicht meinen brauenen Schild! Zu Stücken will ich dich hauen vor meinen Augen. "Eur'n braunen Schild den fürcht ich klein, der lieb Gott wird mich wohl b'hüten, ja b'hüten." Da schlug der Knecht sein'n Herrn zu tot, das g'schah um Fräuleins Güte, ja Güte. Nun will ich heimgehn landwärts ein, zu einer wunderschönen Frauen, ja Frauen; ach Fräulein gebt mirs Botenbrot! Eu'r Herre der ist tot auf breiter Heide, ja Heide. Devant mes yeux, je vais te hacher en morceaux. « Votre écu marron, je le crains peu, Le bon Dieu saura bien me protéger, oui, protéger. » Sur ce, le serviteur frappa son seigneur à mort, Cela se passa pour les bontés d'une demoiselle, oui, les bontés. Je vais maintenant retourner vers mon pays, Vers une merveilleuse femme, oui, femme ; Hélas, demoiselle, donnez-moi le pain du messager !
