Le repos de la Sainte Famille Le récitant Les pèlerins étant venus En un lieu de belle apparence, Où se trouvaient arbres touffus Et de l'eau pure en abondance, Saint Joseph dit: «Arrêtez-vous! Près de cette claire fontaine. Après si longue peine Ici reposons-nous» L'enfant Jésus dormait. Pour lors Saint Marie, Arrêtant l'âne, répondit: "Voyez ce beau tapis d'herbe douce et fleurie, Le Seigneur pour mon fils au désert retendit». Puis s'étant assis sous l'ombrage De trois palmiers au vert feuillage, L'âne paissant, l'enfant dormant, Les sacrés voyageurs quelque temps sommeillèrent, Bercés par des songes heureux, Et les anges du ciel, à genoux autour d'eux, Le divin enfant adorèrent. Se presso l'idolatra avvertirà di essere infelice che fugga dalla terra matrigna e ritrovi da noi la felicità! Che la povertà del pastore rimanga sempre cara al suo cuore! Caro bambino, ti benedica Dio! E benedica anche voi, sposi felici! Che mai l'ingiustizia possa abbattervi con i suoi colpi! Che un angelo buono vi avverta in tempo dei pericoli che su voi incombono! Il riposo della Santa Famiglia Il narratore I pellegrini erano giunti in un luogo ameno pieno di alberi frondosi e ricco di acqua pura; San Giuseppe allora disse: "Fermatevi! Accanto a questa limpida fonte. Dopo tanto soffrire qui riposeremo un poco". Il piccolo Gesù dormiva. Allora Santa Maria, fermando l'asino, rispose: "Vedete quel tappeto d'erba tenera e fiorita, il Signore lo ha steso, nel deserto, per mio figlio". Poi si sedettero all'ombra di tre palme dal verde fogliame, l'asino pascolava, il bimbo dormiva, I santi viaggiatori si abbandonarono al sonno, cullati da sogni felici, e gli angeli del cielo, in ginocchio là intorno, adorarono il divino bambino.
