Er jagt aus frischem freien Mut
Wohl unter grünen Linden,
Er jagt derselben Tierlein viel,
Mit seinen schnellen Winden. 

Er jagt über Berg und tiefe Tal,
Unter den Stauden überall.
Sein Hörnlein tät er blasen,
Sein Lieb wohl auf den Jäger harrt,
Dort auf der grünen Straßen. 

Er spreit den Mantel in das Gras,
Bat, daß sie zu ihm nieder saß,
Mit weissem Arm umfangen:
«Gehab dich wohl mein Trösterin,
Nach dir steht mein Verlangen. 

Uns netzt kein Reif, uns kühlt kein Schnee,
Es brennen noch im grünen Klee,
Zwei Röslein auf der Heiden,
In Liebesschein, in Sonnenschein,
Die zwei soll man nicht scheiden.»

Jager Welgemoed

Er jaagt een jager welgemoed,
Hij voelt zich vrij en jaagt met moed
Ginds onder groene linden,
Hij jaagt dezelfde diertjes meest
Met honden snel als winden.
 
Hij jaagde over berg en dal,
Hij jaagde vrolijk overal.
Zijn hoorn klonk uitgelaten,
Zijn lief wel op de jager wacht,
Daar op de groene straten.
 
Zijn mantel legde hij op 't gras,
Vroeg haar te zitten op zijn jas,
Met blanke arm omvangen:
"Het ga je goed, mijn troostvriendin,
Naar jou gaat mijn verlangen.
 
Noch rijp noch sneeuw maakt ons hier nat
Er branden nog, bij klaverblad,
Twee roosjes op de heide,
In liefdeslicht, in zonneschijn,
Die twee mag men niet scheiden."
