Sterne jubeln, das Meer, es leuchtet,
preßt an die Küste sein pochendes Herz,
Blätter, sie murmeln, es zittert ihr Tauschmuck,
Seewind umfängt mich in mutigem Scherz,
Wetterhahn singt, und die Turmzinnern nicken,
Burschen stolzieren mit flammenden Blicken,
wogende Brust voll üppigen Lebens
fesseln die blühenden Dirnen vergebens,
Rosen, sie mühn sich, zu spähn in die Ferne,
Fackeln, sie lodern und leuchten so gerne,
Wald erschließt seinen Bann zur Stell',
horch, in der Stadt nun Hundegebel!
Und die steigenden Wogen der Treppe
Tragen zum Hafen den fürstlichen Held,
bis er auf alleroberster Staffel
mir in die offenen Arme fällt.

Les étoiles jubilent, la mer brille
et presse contre la côte son cœur battant.
Les feuilles murmurent, leur parure de rosée tremble,
le vent de la mer m'entoure de son jeu animé,
le coq de la girouette chante et les créneaux de la tour s'inclinent,
les garçons se pavanent avec des regards enflammés,
la poitrine gonflée, emplie de vie,
sans pour autant captiver les jeunes filles en fleurs,
roses qu'ils s'efforcent d'espionner de loin,
Des flambeaux brûlent et éclairent a giorno,
la forêt développe soudain sa magie,
écoute maintenant dans la ville, les aboiements des chiens !
Et les spirales ascendantes de l'escalier
mènent au quai le héros princier,
qui sur l'ultime marche
me tombera dans les bras.
