Im wunderschönen Monat Mai,
Als alle Knospen sprangen, 1
Da ist in meinem Herzen
Die Liebe aufgegangen.

Im wunderschönen Monat Mai,

Da hab' ich ihr gestanden

1. En el meravellós mes de maig
En el meravellós mes de maig,
quan esclaten totes les poncelles,
llavors, en el meu cor
sorgí l'amor.

En el meravellós mes de maig,
quan tots els ocells canten,
llavors li vaig confessar
el meu anhel i desig.

2. Aus meinen Tränen spriessen [sung text not yet checked]
Aus meinen Tränen sprießen
Viel blühende Blumen hervor,
Und meine Seufzer werden
Ein Nachtigallenchor.

Und wenn du mich lieb hast, Kindchen,
Schenk' ich dir die Blumen all',
Und vor deinem Fenster soll klingen
Das Lied der Nachtigall.

2. De les meves llàgrimes broten
De les meves llàgrimes broten
moltes flors esponeroses,
i els meus sospirs esdevenen
un cor de rossinyols.

I, si tu m'estimes, criatura,
et regalo totes les flors,
i a la teva finestra ressonarà
el cant del rossinyol.

és rosa, lliri, colom i sol.

4. Wenn ich in deine Augen seh' [sung text not yet checked]
Wenn ich in deine Augen seh',
So schwindet [all' mein Leid]1 und Weh;
Doch wenn ich küße deinen Mund,
So werd' ich ganz und gar gesund.

Wenn ich mich lehn' an deine Brust,
Kommt's über mich wie Himmelslust;
Doch wenn du sprichst: ich liebe dich!
[So]2 muß ich weinen bitterlich.

4. Quan et miro als ulls
Quan et miro als ulls,
s'esvaeixen el meu dolor i sofrença;
amb tot, quan beso la teva boca,
esdevinc totalment sa.

Quan em recolzo en el teu pit,
em ve una mena de goig celestial;
però quan em dius: t'estimo!
Llavors he de plorar amargament.

5. Ich will meine Seele tauchen [sung text not yet checked]
Ich will meine Seele tauchen
In den Kelch der Lilie hinein;
Die Lilie soll klingend hauchen
Ein Lied von der Liebsten mein.

Das Lied soll schauern und beben
Wie der Kuß von ihrem Mund,
Den sie mir einst gegeben
In wunderbar süßer Stund'.

5. Vull endinsar la meva ànima
Vull endinsar la meva ànima
en el calze del lliri blanc;
el lliri alenaria sonant
una cançó de la meva estimada.

La cançó fremiria i tremolaria
com el petó de la seva boca,
aquell que em va fer una vegada
en un meravellós i dolç moment.

Auf [goldnem Leder]5 gemalt;

Die Augen, die Lippen, die Wänglein,
Die gleichen der Liebsten genau.

6. En el Rin, el bonic riu
En el Rin, el bonic riu,
s'emmiralla, en les seves onades,
la gran, sagrada ciutat de Colònia,
amb la seva enorme catedral.

A la catedral hi ha una imatge,
pintada sobre cuir daurat,
que, amicalment, ha resplendit
en el desert de la meva vida.

S'hi veuen flors i angelets suspesos
a l'entorn de Nostra Senyora;

No guardo rancúnia.

jo t'he vist en somnis,
i he vist la nit a l'espai del teu cor,
i he vist la serp que et rosega el cor,
he vist, estimada, que miserable que ets.

Erquickenden Gesang.

Und wüßten sie mein Wehe,
Die [goldnen]1 Sternelein,
Sie kämen aus ihrer Höhe,
Und sprächen Trost mir ein.

[Die]2 alle können's nicht wissen,
Nur [eine]3 kennt meinen Schmerz;
[Sie]4 hat ja selbst zerrissen,
Zerrissen mir das Herz.

8. I si les flors, les petites, sabessin
I si les flors, les petites, sabessin
com profundament el meu cor està ferit,
plorarien amb mi,
per guarir el meu dolor.

I si els rossinyols sabessin
fins a quin punt estic trist i malaltís,
ferien ressonar alegres
un cant de conhort.

I si el meu sofriment sabessin,
les estrelletes daurades,
baixarien de les seves alçàries,
per donar-me paraules de consol.

Tots ells però, no poden saber-ho,
només una coneix el meu dolor;
ella mateixa fou qui esquinçà,
esquinçà el meu cor.

Quan sento la cançoneta,
que adés cantava la meva estimada,

Un obscur afany m'empeny
amunt, cap a dalt del bosc,
allà es desfà en llàgrimes
el meu immens dolor.

11. Un noi estima una noia
Un noi estima una noia,
que n'ha escollit un altre;
aquest, estima una altra,
i s'ha casat amb ella.

La noia, per despit, es casa
amb el primer home
que creua el seu camí;
el noi s'ho pren malament.

Això és una vella història,
però segueix sent sempre nova;
i a qui tot just semblant passa,
se li parteix a trossos el cor.

Em desperto i el ram ja no hi és

15. Aus alten Märchen winkt es [sung text checked 1 time]
Aus alten Märchen winkt es
Hervor mit weißer Hand,
Da singt es und da klingt es
Von einem Zauberland;

Wo bunte Blumen blühen
Im gold'nen Abendlicht,
Und lieblich duftend glühen,
Mit bräutlichem Gesicht;

Und grüne Bäume singen
Uralte Melodei'n,
Die Lüfte heimlich klingen,
Und Vögel schmettern drein;

Und Nebelbilder steigen
Wohl aus der Erd' hervor,
Und tanzen luft'gen Reigen
Im wunderlichen Chor;

Und blaue Funken brennen
An jedem Blatt und Reis,
Und rote Lichter rennen
Im irren, wirren Kreis;

Und laute Quellen brechen
Aus wildem Marmorstein.
Und seltsam in den Bächen
Strahlt fort der Widerschein.

Ach, könnt' ich dorthin kommen,
Und dort mein Herz erfreu'n,
Und aller Qual entnommen,
Und frei und selig sein!

Ach! jenes Land der Wonne,
Das seh' ich oft im Traum,
Doch kommt die Morgensonne,
Zerfließt's wie eitel Schaum.

15. De vells contes em fa signes
De vells contes em fa signes
una mà blanca,
on es canta i es fa sonar
d'un país de meravelles;

on floreixen acolorides poncelles
en la daurada llum del capvespre,
i, flairant dolçament, resplendeixen
amb rostre de núvia;

i verds arbres canten
melodies d'un temps remot,
l'oreig es fa sentir furtiu
i, amb ell, refilen els ocells;

i figures nebuloses
s'alcen de la terra,
i ballen airoses rotllanes
en estranys cors;

i espurnes blaves cremen
en totes les fulles i branques,
i llums roges corren
en folls, confusos cercles;

i fonts sorolloses brollen
de feréstecs blocs de marbre
i, estrany, reflecteix
el besllum en els rierols.

Ai! Si jo podés arribar-hi
i allà alegrar el meu cor,
i, alleujat de tot turment,
ser lliure i feliç!

Ah! Aquell és el país de delícies
que sovint veig en somnis,
però quan surt el sol de matinada,
es desfà com si fos escuma.

16. Die alten, bösen Lieder [sung text checked 1 time]
Die alten, bösen Lieder,
Die Träume [schlimm]1 und arg,
Die laßt uns jetzt begraben,
Holt einen großen Sarg.

Hinein leg' ich gar manches,
Doch sag' ich noch nicht was;
Der Sarg muß sein noch größer,
Wie's Heidelberger Faß.

Und holt eine Totenbahre,
[Von Brettern]2 [fest und dick]3;
Auch muß sie sein noch länger,
Als wie zu Mainz die Brück'.

Und holt mir auch zwölf Riesen,
Die müssen noch stärker sein
Als wie der [heil'ge]4 Christoph
Im Dom zu Köln am Rhein.

Die sollen den Sarg forttragen,
Und senken ins Meer hinab,
Denn solchem großen Sarge
Gebührt ein großes Grab.

Wißt ihr, warum der Sarg wohl
So groß und schwer mag sein?
Ich [legt']5 auch meine Liebe
Und meinen Schmerz hinein.

16. Les velles, infames cançons
Les velles, infames cançons,
els somnis repulsius i malèvols,
enterrem-los ara,
porta un taüt ben gros.

A dintre hi posaré moltes coses,
però encara no dic el què;

amb tauler ferm i gruixut;
ha d'ésser més llarg encara
que el pont de Magúncia.

I cerca també dotze gegants,
han d'ésser encara més forts
que el Sant Cristòfol
de la catedral de Colònia al Rin.

Ells s'emportaran el fèretre
i el llençaran al mar;
Car per a un taüt tan gros
cal també un gran fossar.

Sabeu per què el taüt
ha d'ésser gros i pesant?
A dins hi haig de posar
tot el meu amor i el meu dolor.
