Wächterruf
 (Sung text for setting by L. Sinigaglia)
 Matches base text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Liebchens Arm mich weich umschlingt,
Wächter stösst in's Horn und singt:
"Hört ihr Herrn und lasst euch sagen,
unser' Glock hat zehn geschlagen! = Zehn!"

Zehn Gebote, ach! wie schwer!
wenn nur ein's nicht darunter wär'!
Fällt ein Sternlein aus der Luft;
Wächter stösst in's Horn und ruft:

"Wahrt das Feuer und das Licht,
dass der Stadt kein' Schad' geschicht! = Ja!"
Und das brave Bürgerkind
blässt das Lämpchen aus geschwind.
