Dämmrung senkte sich von oben,
Schon ist alle Nähe fern;
Doch zuerst emporgehoben
Holden Lichts der Abendstern!
Alles schwankt in's Ungewisse,
Nebel schleichen in die Höh';
Schwarzvertiefte Finsternisse
Widerspiegelnd ruht der See.

Dort, am östlichen Bereiche
Ahn' ich Mondenglanz und Gluth,
Schlanker Weiden Haargezweige
Scherzen auf der nächsten Fluth.
Durch bewegter Schatten Spiele
Zittert Luna's Zauberschein,
Und durch's Auge schleicht die Kühle
Sänftigend in's Herz hinein.

El crepuscle ha davallat,
ja tots els encontorns són lluny;
però primer s’enlaira
l’encisera llum de l’estrella del vespre!
Tot fluctua en la incertesa,
la boira s’esquitlla vers les alçàries;
reflectint foscúries negres i profundes,
s’encalma el llac.

Ara, a l’àmbit de llevant,
albiro la llum i el fulgor de la lluna,
branques d’esvelts salzes, com cabells,
juguen amb la propera onada.
A través del bellugadís joc d’ombres,
tremola l’encisera llum de la lluna,
i a través dels meus ulls s’esquitlla la frescor,
apaivagant, fins a dins del cor.
