Schäfer und Schäferin
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Lustig ists auf grüner Heid,
Man thut mich Schäfer nennen.
Ich weiß ein Schäflein ganz allein,
Das will ich schon bekommen.
Im Winter war es in dem Wald,
Im Sommer auf grüner Au,
Da hab ich meinen Aufenthalt
Bei einer Schäfersfrau.
"Und wenn du bei mir Schäfersfraun
Willst eine Freude haben,
So darfst herein zu mir dich traun,
Darfst weiter niemand fragen!
Die Schäflein gehn auf grüner Heid,
Wir tanzen so herum,
Gar lustig sind wir jederzeit,
Drum sei mir nun willkomm!"

Shepherd and shepherdess
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
It is cheerful upon the green heath,
One calls me shepherd.
I know a little sheep all alone,
I shall get it yet.
In wintertime it was in the forest,
In summertime upon the green meadow;
There I have my sojourn
At the abode of a shepherdess.
"And if you wish to have some fun
With me, a shepherdess,
Then you may dare to enter here,
You may not ask anyone else!
The little sheep amble on the green heath,
We dance around thus,
We are very merry all the time,
Therefore be welcome to me!"
