Die freien Sänger
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): DUT ENG
Vöglein hüpfet in dem Haine,
Herzchen hüpfet in der Brust.
Bei des Frühroth's erstem Scheine
Sind sie wach voll Lieb' und Lust.
Denn ein frohes, freies Leben,
Freier Flug und freier Sang
Ward den Liebenden gegeben,
Und sie zieh'n die Welt entlang.
Vöglein über Thal und Hügel
Findet bei der Liebsten Ruh,
Auf! mein Herz, auch deine Flügel
Tragen dich dem Himmel zu.

The unfettered singers
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Little bird hops in the grove,
Little heart hops in my breast.
At the first red glow of dawn,
They awaken full of love and joy.
For a joyous, free life,
Unfettered flight and unfettered song,
Has been given to the lovers,
And they travel along through the world.
The little bird flying over valleys and hills
Finds rest by the beloved.
Arise, my heart, your wings, too
Can carry you toward heaven.
