Oh my loveliest hope, Oh my sweet love, My life and my peace! Mary! I hail Thee. When I think of Thee, Mary! my sun: My heart is completely enraptured By joy and delight. If a thought sinfully Disturbs the peace of my soul, It flees, when my soul hears Thy Holy Name. In this sea of life Thou art the star, the bright one, That leads the ship of the soul Safely through the waves. In the protection of Thy cloak, Thou whom I choose before all others, Let me make my pilgrimage through life And be my comfort in death. So that when once, Mary! My life here comes to an end, Turned toward Thee in love Heaven may receive me. Encircle my heart with chains, It yearns for that; So that captured by love I always remain true to Thee. Thus is my heart, Mary! Not mine, it is Thine; Oh accept it, Thou pure one, And present it to my God.
