Er tut den ersten Schritt ins Heiligtum,
Er wird geboren!

Bald wird er ins Allerheiligste gehen
Zum hohen Kreuz, zur Nacht, zum Blutaltar,
Zum Todeshügel!

Im Weltgericht geht er wieder heraus.
Dann sinkt vor ihm der Vorhang, und enthüllt
Was war, und sein wird!

Du furchtbarer! Und du weinendes Kind!
Was soll ich tun, in dem Gericht zu stehn,
Das du dann richtest?
