Hab immer doch in Bösen Stunden Mir irgend einen Trost ausgfunden, War nie verlassen ganz und gar, Nie kein erbärmlich armer Narr. War immer wo doch noch ein Halt Und habs gewendet mit Gewalt. Sind all denn meine Kräft dahin Und alls verworren schon mein Sinn, Daß ich kaum mehr besinnen kann, Wer bin ich denn: der Jedermann, Der reiche Jedermann allzeit. Das ist mein Hand, das ist mein Kleid Und was da steht auf diesem Platz, Das ist mein Geld, das ist mein Schatz, Durch den ich jederzeit mit Macht Hab alles spielend vor mich bracht. Nun wird mir wohl, daß ich den seh Recht bei der Hand in meiner Näh. Wenn ich bei dem verharren kann, Geht mich kein Graus und Ängsten an. Weh aber, ich muß ja dorthin, Das kommt mir jählings in den Sinn. Der Bot war da, die Ladung ist beschehn. Nun heißt es auf und dorthin gehn. Ah, Dieu, comme je frémis d'horreur devant la mort, La sueur de la peur me submerge de détresse ; Peut-elle tuer l'âme dans notre corps ? Que m'est-il arrivé soudain ? Pourtant dans les heures difficiles j'ai toujours Pu trouver du réconfort, Je n'ai jamais été complètement abandonné, Comme un pauvre fou lamentable. Un refuge a toujours pu être trouvé Vers où me tourner avec énergie. Maintenant mes forces sont parties Et mon esprit est bouleversé. Je peux à peine me souvenir Qui je suis : Jedermann, Le riche Jedermann de toujours. C'est ma main, c'est mon manteau Et là devant moi se tient Mon or, c'est mon trésor, Grâce auquel j'ai toujours le pouvoir De soumettre tout à mon plaisir. Maintenant cela va bien quand je le vois À portée de main tout près de moi. Si je peux rester près de lui, J'échapperai à l'effroi et à l'angoisse. Mais, hélas, je dois m'en aller, Cela me revient à l'esprit. Le messager était ici, la nouvelle a été délivrée. Maintenant il est temps d'y aller.
