Abendlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Die Sonne sinkt, ein blutiger Ball,
Und Dämmerung dunkelt mählich überall.
Fern irgendwo ein Sternlein funkelt
Von mütterlicher Nacht entzündet,
Die seines Schwebens Schwingen traf,
Und aller Stunden Härte mündet
In süßen, sündelosen Schlaf.

Evening song
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The sun sinks, a bloody sphere,
And bit by bit twilight darkens everything.
Far away somewhere a little star sparkles,
Ignited by the maternal night
That exactly matched the vibrations of its floating,
And the hardness of all the hours flows
Into a sweet, sinless sleep.
