Der Mai, der Mai
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Der Mai, der Mai
kommt nun herbei!
Frühlingsregen, Frühlingssegen,
frische Keime, grüne Sprossen,
Duft und Blumen lachen wieder,
und der Bach kommt rasch geschossen.
In den Lüften auf und nieder
klingen wieder
süße Lieder.
Seid willkommen, liebe Gäste,
in dem schönen Frühlingsfeste!
Lehrt mich singen, Vögelein,
lehrt mich danken hell und rein
dem, der aus des Himmels Bläue
auf mich schaut mit Lieb' und Treue!

May, May
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
May, May
is now arriving!
Spring rain, spring blessings,
fresh sprouts, green shoots,
scent and flowers smile once more,
and the brook comes sweeping along rapidly.
Up and down in the breezes
once more are sounding
sweet songs.
Dear guests, be welcome
At the beautiful festival of spring!
Teach me how to sing, little birds,
teach me to give thanks brightly and purely
to Him who from the blue of heaven
gazes down upon me with love and constancy!
