Dämmerung

Still und stiller wird's im Walde, dämmernd bricht die Nacht herein, und am Himmel glänzet balde silberheller Mondenschein. Schlanke Zweige flüstern leise, beugend sich zur klaren Fluth, eine halbverklung'ne Weise, die in Stromestiefen ruht. Purpurn noch der Berge Gipfel leuchten in des Abends Schein, doch der Bäume hohe Wipfel hüllt schon tiefer Schatten ein. Durch die Abendstille dringen Glocken von dem Kirchlein her, leis' und leiser sie verklingen, Ruhe, Frieden ringsumher.
