Ich sah am Fenster drei Mädchen
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Italian (Italiano)
Available translation(s): ENG
Ich sah am Fenster drei Mädchen,
Die Blicke mir zugewandt;
Sie haben mir plötzlich drei Pfeile
Der Liebe hinunter gesandt.
Die eine traf mir die Stirne,
Die and're das Haupt mit Schmerz;
Das allerschönste der Mädchen,
Es traf mich mitten in's Herz.
Einen Glückwunsch send' ich der Guten
Und schönen Dank zurück;
Der Ältesten aber der Schwestern
Empfehl' ich mein Herzensgeschick.

I saw three maidens at the window
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
I saw three maidens at the window,
Their gaze was turned toward me;
Suddenly they shot three arrows
Of love down upon me.
One struck my brow,
The second, with pain, [struck] my head;
The [arrow of the] most beautiful of the maidens,
It struck me right in the heart.
I send back congratulations to the good one
And send back many thanks;
But to the oldest of the sisters
I entrust the fate of my heart.
