În zădar şi anii s-adun cu grăbire, Trecând peste inimi ce-au gustat iubire! Suvenirul dulce de-un minut slăvit Pintre-a vieţii valuri stă-n veci neclintit!

In dem Schoß des Meeres rauschen hoch die Wellen, brechen sich an Felsen, dass sie aufwärts schwellen und in weißen Fluten gleiten in den Sand: Wasser sind vergänglich, Felsen halten Stand! In das Nichts versinken auch des Lebens Stunden, über Herzen schreitend, welche Lieb' empfunden, aber unvergänglich bleibt ein holdes Glück durch des Lebens Pfade als Trost uns zurück.
