Anders wird die Welt mit jedem Schritt,
Den ich weiter von der Liebsten mache;
Mein Herz, das will nicht weiter mit.
Hier scheint die Sonne kalt in's Land,
Hier däucht mir Alles unbekannt,
Sogar die Blumen am Bache!
Hat jede Sache
So fremd eine Miene, so falsch ein Gesicht.
Das Bächlein murmelt wohl und spricht:
Armer Knabe, komm bei mir vorüber,
Siehst auch hier Vergißmeinnicht!
-- Ja, die sind schön an jedem Ort,
Aber nicht wie dort.
Fort, nur fort!

Qui m'amène plus loin de ma bien-aimée ;
Mon cœur, il n'ira pas plus loin avec moi.
Ici le soleil brille froidement sur le pays,
Ici tout me semble inconnu,
Même les fleurs près du ruisseau !
Toutes les choses ont
Un air si étranger, un visage si faux.
Le petit ruisseau murmure agréablement et dit :
« Pauvre garçon, viens près de moi,
Tu vois aussi ici des myosotis ! »
