Ritt bei Tage, ritt bei Nacht ich, sucht' ein schönes Mägdelein; kam an eine Silberquelle, schönes Mädchen badet sich. Grüß' dich, grüß' dich, schönes Mädchen, willst mein lieber Schatz nicht sein? „Dank dir, Dank dir, schmucker Knabe, will dein lieber Schatz ich sein!“ Male mir drei gold'ne Rosen, die mit gold'ner Blüte blühn’; kannst du mir die Rosen malen, dann will ich dein Schatz auch sein. Zähle mir des Himmels Sterne, die dort oben nächtlich glüh'n; kannst du mir die Sterne zählen, dann will ich dein Schatz auch sein.
