by Adolf Schirmer (1821 - 1886)

Erinnerung
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wir sassen still am Fenster,
Das Licht war ausgebrannt;
Ihr Herzchen hört' ich schlagen,
Sie drückte mir die Hand,
Sie schmiegte tief ergriffen
Sich stumm an meine Brust,
In süßer Wehmut bebten
Wir träumend, unbewußt.

Da weinte sie und flehte
Mit glühendem Gesicht:
Vergiß auch in der Ferne
Dein treues Mädchen nicht!
Ich steh' allein auf Erden,
Mein Hoffen lebt in dir;
Du bist mir Vater, Mutter, --
Du bist mein Alles mir!

Wohin sind jene Zeiten
Der süßen Liebeslust?
Mein Haar ist längst ergrauet,
Erkaltet meine Brust!
Sie hat den Vater funden
In stiller Himmelsruh';
Und Mutter Erd', die kühle,
Deckt sanft ihr Tochter zu.
