You can help us modernize! The present website has been online for a very long time and we want to bring it up to date. As of April 20, we are $4,600 away from our goal of $15,000 to fund the project. The fully redesigned site will be better for mobile, easier to read and navigate, and ready for the next decade. Please give today and join dozens of other supporters in making this important renovation possible!

Der helle Stern

Language: German (Deutsch)

Am Himmel glänzt ein heller Stern
Wohl durch die dunkle Nacht;
Vor allen Sternen schau' ich gern
Nach seiner lichten Pracht.
Wer sagt mir, wie es dort mag sein,
Dort, wo mein Sternlein blinkt,
Und mir mit seinem klaren Schein
So freundlich niederwinkt?
  Strahlt dieses eine Sternlein schon
So lieblich durch die Nacht,--
Wie muß erst Gottes Strahlen-Thron
Hell glänzen voller Pracht!
Wie muß dort erst der Engel Schaar
So hell und leuchtend sein,
Und glänzen licht und wunderbar
Des Himmels ew'ger Schein!
  Dorthin winkt mir der Sternen-Strahl!
O sel'ge, süße Zeit,--
Einst schan ich dort im Himmelssaal
All diese Herrlichkeit!
