by Henri Cazalis (1840 - 1909), as Jean Lahor

Après l'orage
Language: French (Français)
J'aime la mer comme mon âme,
J'aime tes yeux comme la mer :
Parfois des caprices de femme
Semblent troubler le gouffre amer ;

Et de même tes chers yeux vagues,
D'un azur si tendre souvent,
Ont cette inconstance des vagues
Au plus léger souffle du vent ;

Et mes caresses, et mes joies,
Tous mes songes délicieux,
Brusquement alors tu les noies
Dans un orage de tes yeux.

Mais si fantasque est ta nature
Que l'orage aussi dure peu,
Et plus clair après l'aventure
Luit et me rit ton regard bleu.

Confirmed with Jean Lahor, L'Illusion, 3rd edition, Paris, Alphonse Lemerre, 1893, page 120.
