by Giuseppe Palomba (flourished 1769-1825)

Quando la fama altera
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Quando la fama altera,
con tromba ben sonora,
pei regni dell'aurora
a pubblicarlo andrà,
affé che più d'un principe,
insin nel suolo ausonio
a riverir Pomponio
sollecito verrà.
E questi chi saranno
Filippo or vi dirà.
Dal Pekin l'Ohang tessè,
dalla Persia il gran Sofì,
dall'Egitto il Califè,
il Mogollo dal Chilì.
E da Libia verran poi
coi lor baffi i primi eroi,
di Marocco Alzul Balà,
Alì dal Baldugerì,
di Guinea Micazirà,
e di Tripoli il Beì;
tutto un tal cerimoniale
stamperassi nel giornale,
e dal giù sino alle sfere
don Pomponio sbalzerà.
(Ma, con poco suo piacere,
or burlato resterà.)
