by Theodor, Baron von der Osten-Sacken-Dondangen

Die Lerche
Language: German (Deutsch)
Singend steigt empor die Lerche
Zu des Himmels lichten Räumen;
Und wie frisch die Blüthe keimen,
Tönt ihr Lied.

Unten mag sie nicht verweilen,
Oben ist Gesanges Leben;
Würde sie nicht dahin streben,
Schwieg sie wohl.

Doch sie folgt den unverhüllten
Eingeborenen Gefühlen;
Warme Frühlingslüfte spielen
Um sie her.

Und so schwebt sie, selbst vergessen,
Nimmt aus freier Luft die Lieder,
Gibt sie froh den Lüften wieder
Immer zu!
