Han knuger en klase av hvit syrin, det er som han sluker en haand med sin. Lin mellem klør. Det er som han lukker haanden om uskyld som opgir aanden. Uskyld som dør. Han tenker paa haven fra hvilken han gik, paa liljer han ranet, paa roser han fik, tænker paa alt: Uskyld, rose og lilje fulgte sin sommers vilje blomstret og faldt.
