Vous parlez mal de mon ami, Et j'en ai le cœur bien marri ; Que vous importe, s'il vous plaît, Qu'il soit charmant ou qu'il soit laid, Quand je lui plais et qu'il me plaît ? Vous me direz: C'est pour ton bien ; Mais le cas ne vous touche en rien, Que vous sert de médire ? C'est donner le martyre A qui ne vous demande rien ! Je ne vois pas, tout bientoisé, De vertu dont on n'ait jasé. Aussi, ne vous déplaise, J'en veux prendre à mon aise. On trouve que j'ai trop osé ... Mais plût à Dieu, qu'il fut ici, Celui que j'ai pris et choisi Et, quand devraient les médisants En enrager tous en dedans, Je m'en irais seule avec lui !
