by Carl Wilhelm Batz (1838 - 1894)

Fahr wohl mein Vaterland
Language: German (Deutsch)
Den Kiel unbrausen wild die Wogen,
die Küste wird zum Nebelland,
es schweift die Möw' im weiten Bogen.
Fahr wohl, mein teures Vaterland!

Es saust der Wind, die Wogen jagen,
o bitt'res Wehe, nie gekannt,
mit tränenschwerem Blick zu sagen:
Fahr wohl, mein teures Vaterland!

Das Schiff geht hoch, die Wellen schäumen,
es sprotzt ihr Gischt mir auf die Hand,
o lasst mich heimwärts träumen.
Fahr wohl, mein teures Vaterland!
