hin zu dem fernsten Strand

Hin nach der Eiseszone, so starr so kalt und öd,
zur Wüste, wo kein Bäumchen dir Schatten bietend steht,
und droht des Samums Hauch 
Tod und Verderben auch,
ich geh' mit dir.

Uns wär's zum dunk'len Kerker, ich bleibe nicht zurück,
