by Adolf Frey (1855 - 1920)

Morgenlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es flitzt der erste Sonnenstrahl
auf meinen blanken Hartbartstahl
und läßt ihn hell erglühen.

So grüß dich Gott, du junger Tag!
Es lüstet mich nach Stich und Schlag,
mein Herz hebt an zu blühen.

Willkommen, Strauß und frischer Streit,
willkommen, der Ehren grüne Zeit,
Mannheit will sich erwahren!

Hallo! laßt uns im Morgenrot
grad an den Feind mit Mord und Tod
wie Sturm und Wetter fahren!

Confirmed with Adolf Frey, Gedichte, zweite vermehrte Auflage, Leipzig: H. Haessel Verlag, 1908. Appears in Lieder eines Freiharstbuben 1476, page 308.
