You can help us modernize! The present website has been online for a very long time and we want to bring it up to date. As of April 17, we are $5,700 away from our goal of $15,000 to fund the project. The fully redesigned site will be better for mobile, easier to read and navigate, and ready for the next decade. Please give today to join dozens of other supporters in making this important renovation possible!

Maienkafer summen

Language: German (Deutsch)

Maienkafer summen
Durch die Luft und brummen,
          Freuen sich
          Königlich,
Daß es nicht mehr stürmt und schneit,
Daß nach rauher Winterzeit
Endlich ist der Mai erschienen,
Und die Bäume blüh'n und grünen.
     Surre, surre, Käferlein,
     Mai wird bald vorüber sein;
     Singe, singe froh dein Lied,
     Eh' er ganz vorüber zieht!

Maienkäfer, fliege,
Daß ich dich nicht kriege!--
          Käferlein,
          Bist jetzt mein!
Sollst ja nicht in's enge Haus,
Strecke nur die Hörnlein aus;
[Hurtig]1 laß die Flügel schwirren,
Durch die Welt dahin zu irren!
     Surre, surre, Käferlein,
     Mai wird bald vorüber sein;
     Freue dich noch manchen Tag,
     Eh' der Winter kommen mag!
