Wenn der Lenz darüber streift,
Manche Knospe bricht;
Was im Herzen still gereift,
Schlumm're länger nicht.

Rufen will ich in die Nacht,
Auf zum Himmel sehn,
Wo in stiller Gluth entfacht
Tausend Sterne gehn.

Wandern will ich durch den Wald,
Selig wie ein Kind,
Fern von meinem Weg verhallt
Aller Schmerz gelind.

Wie der Wind die Segel schwellt,
Schwellt der Lenz den Muth;
Ach, ich liebe diese Welt,
Und die Welt ist gut.

Confirmed with Gedichte von Hans Georg Meyer, Berlin: Julius Springer, 1873. Appears in Lieder, page 15.
