by Georg Doleschal (1844 - 1894), as Oskar Welten

Am See
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es starrt die alte Weide
So trübe in den See,
Die dunkle Flut erzählt ihr
Ein Märchen voll dunklem Weh:

Es hatten zwei geschlossen
In Liebe einen Bund,
Nun liegen sie umschlungen
Tief in dem kühlen Grund.

Er mußte hinaus, als der Himmel
In schweren Wolken hing, --
Da er nicht wiederkehrte,
Die Maid ihn suchen ging.
