by Joseph Karl Benedikt, Freiherr von Eichendorff (1788 - 1857)

An die Lützowschen Jäger
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wunderliche Spiessgesellen,
Denkt ihr noch an mich,
Wie wir an der Elbe Wellen
Lagen brüderlich?

Wie wir in des Spreewalds Hallen,
Schauer in der Brust,
Hell die Hörner liessen schallen
So zu Schreck wie Luft?

Mancher musste da hinunter
Unter den Rasen grün,
Und der Krieg und Frühling
munter Gingen über ihn.

Wo wir ruhen, wo wir wohnen:
Jener Waldeshort
Rauscht mit seinen grünen Kronen
Durch mein Leben fort.
