Die Waise und die Waisen

Euch kann die Sorge nicht umringen,
liebliche kleine Vögelein,
denn so bald euch wachsen die Schwingen,
werdet ihr frei und glücklich sein.
Schließt eure zarten Augenlider
von mir beschirmet sorglos zu,
mit kehrt im Traum das Glück nur wieder,
schlaft Vöglein ein in süßer Ruh.

Keine Mutter schützt euch Armen,
weh mir, ich theile dies Geschick,
aber mit Euch hat man Erbarmen,
mir lächelt keines Freundes Blick.
Meine Klage hallt einsam wieder,
niemand spricht liebend Trost mir zu,
und nur im Traum schwebt Glück hernieder,
drum schlafet ein in süßer Ruh.
