Translation by Matthias Jacob Schleiden (1804 - 1881), as Ernst

Weine nicht
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the English
Süßes Mädchen, weine nicht,
Kummer wird vergehn,
Engelsaugen schlafen nicht,
Werden auf dich sehn.

Flieh' der Sorgen bange Qual,
Beut dem Glück dein Herz.
Um dich kämpft ein Geisterpaar:
Hoffnungslust und Schmerz.

Schmerz, gezeugt von Sünd' und Nacht,
Ist der Erde Sohn.
Hoffnung ist ein Kind des Lichts,
Stammt von Gottes Thron.
