by Richard Zoozmann (1863 - 1934)

Das Volkslied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es ist ein Lied erschollen
In süsser Maienlust,
Es ist heraufgequollen
Aus tiefster Menschenbrust.

Weg trugen's weit die Winde
Den grünen Wald entlang . . .
Ich sinn' ihm nach und finde
Nicht mehr den Wunderklang.

Das Lied klang also feine
Und seltsamlicher Art,
Dass mir aus Lachen und Weinen
Sehr süsse Wehe ward.

Die Vöglein in den Zweigen,
Wohl Fink und Nachtigall,
Sie mussten all erschweigen
Vor dieses Liedes Schall.

Wer mocht dies Lied ergründen?
Den Sänger keiner weiss.
Doch ewig wird es künden
Des Namenlosen Preis!
